Come to Helix Wine for First Friday and enjoy some great Washington wine while seeing beautiful artwork from T.K. Pruitt. She grew up in Spokane and was raised by a Japanese American mother from the Northwest and a father who grew up on a farm in the South. Her work often reflects the blend of these two distinct cultures. Much of her childhood was spent outdoors, camping and fishing with her father, which helped her develop a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature. From her mother and grandmother, she was introduced to Japanese aesthetics. During her weekend visits to her grandmother's house, she would spend hours looking through the Japanese magazines she subscribed to, filled with amazing fashion, art, ceramics, and interior design. These two backgrounds come together in her work and serve as the foundation for everything she creates.
